Employer's expected contributions to increase

Monday 24 january 2011

Since August 2009 the Skills Funding Agency (SFA) have expected that employers contribute towards the training and development of their staff. This has been evident in the reduction in funding received for adult apprenticeships. Locomotivation has absorbed the additional costs over this time but with further funding cuts planned for August 2011 we will now be looking to charge a contribution from our employers.

The SFA now expect training providers to collect an employer contribution for learners that are aged 19+ years, at the start of their programme. For any learners aged 16-18 years starting an Apprenticeship an employer contribution will not be required.

We will be providing some further information on employers contributions shortly.
