Mandatory Units

The NVQ consists of the following 5 mandatory units:

• Contribute to the Work of your Team
• Promote Safety in the Sport and Activity Environment
• Prepare Activities Within a Session
• Lead Activities Within a Session
• Conclude and Review a Session

Optional Units

And any 2 from the following optional units:

• Give Customers a Positive Impression of Yourself and Your Organisation
• Set Up, Take Down and Store Equipment
• Administer Finance and Information
• Support the Protection of Children from Abuse
• Contribute to Adventurous Activities
• Maintain Sport and Recreation Equipment
• Contribute to Joint Working with Other Organisations
• Look After Participants Who Are Away from Home
• Contribute to Participants’ Personal and Social Development
• Support the Development of the Sport or Activity
• Enable People with Disabilities to Take Part in Activities
• Contribute to Participants’ Exploration and Understanding of the Natural Environment
• Set Up, Take Down and Store Equipment
• Prepare for a Session
• Develop Customer Relationships
• Contribute to Health and Safety of the Workplace
• Maintaining Safe and Healthy Work Practices, and Maintaining a Safe and Healthy Environment
• Promote, Monitor and Maintain Health, Safety and Security in the Workplace

The Key Skills required for this framework are:

• Application of Number Level 1
• Communication Level 1

The Technical Certificate consists of the following elements

• Introduction to Employment Rights and Responsibilities in the Outdoor Industry
• Industry and Organisational Awareness in the Outdoors
• Plan, Deliver, Review and Evaluate Outdoor Activity Sessions

Note: For learners not working in the outdoors, learners will follow the technical certificate relevant to the Operational Services Apprenticeship
