Cookies

Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device when you visit it. They are widely used to make websites work, to keep them secure, and to help website owners understand how their site is being used.

Our approach to cookies

We keep our use of cookies deliberately limited, and we follow two simple principles:

  • Essential cookies only by default. The only cookies set automatically are the ones this website needs in order to work and to stay secure.
  • Analytics only with your consent. We do not set any analytics cookies unless you have chosen to accept them.

We do not use any marketing or advertising cookies at all.

Your choice

When you first visit the site, a banner gives you two equal choices: accept analytics cookies, or use essential cookies only. No optional cookies are set before you make that choice, and neither option is pre-selected for you.

You can change your choice at any time using the “Cookie choices” link in the footer of every page. Analytics is loaded through Google Tag Manager, which acts only as the loading mechanism and does not run at all until you have accepted analytics cookies.

The cookies we use

Essential cookies

The PHPSESSID cookie is always set, because the site cannot run securely without it: it is what keeps your session safe and protects our forms against cross-site request forgery. Because it is strictly necessary, it is not covered by the analytics choice above. If you block it in your browser, parts of the site may not work correctly.
